Get to know Paul

Today we’re asking the get to know the AHA Crew questions to Paul Holman, Principal.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I admit, I am a bit of a workaholic (probably because I love my job) who also enjoys spending lots of time with Ruth and our two dogs. I really like spending Saturdays with them. We hit garage sales, go to the beach, and work in our garden.

What do you see as your communications strengths?

I listen and pay attention to the details. From brainstorming a campaign concept to writing and editing to media outreach, everything at AHA is well thought out.

What made you interested in joining AHA?

About seven years ago Ruth and I were working full-time in communication type roles for other organizations and were also doing a great deal of PR contract work in our spare time. Our freelance clients kept encouraging us to launch an agency and the new business calls kept coming in, so we took the leap. It was the best thing we could have done.

What five words describe you professionally? Personally?

Professionally: organized, detailed, persistent, visionary, and dedicated.

Personally: honest, open-minded, polite, fun loving, and singer (not a great one, though).

What kind of beverage do you drink first thing in the a.m.?

Water, I am a morning person and don’t need a coffee jolt to get me going. My brain is on 10 about five minutes after I wake up.

Who do you think you were in a past life?

I love history, so I would love to have been alive in any era. Rome is my favourite city and the centre of one of the chapters of a book that’s percolating in my head. If I had a past life, maybe I was a writer in Rome back in the first century.

What makes you laugh out loud?

After all these years, Seinfeld still makes me laugh out loud. Ruth is pretty funny too.

When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?

A businessman. I didn’t know doing what, but I loved the idea of being behind a big desk and organizing things.

What five people living or dead would you invite to a dinner party?

Living: Ruth and my immediate family. There’s no one else that I’d rather sit down and have a crab feast with. There’s so much laughter and when we’re together someone undoubtedly breaks out into song.

Living or Dead: Ruth (not because I have to say her, but because there wouldn’t be any food without her), Michelangelo, Babe Ruth, Walter Cronkite, and my grandfather.

What’s in your refrigerator right now?

V8, Brita filtered water, and a bunch of things I can’t cook.

What five CDs would you take with you to a desert island?

Nickelback’s Dark Horse, a collection of songs from my brother Scott Rocker, Stone Temple Pilots Greatest Hits, a live Jimmy Buffet CD, and an Anthony Robbins CD…I got to bring along a CD player, right?

What question do you wish someone would ask you?

Can I give you a million dollars?

What’s your answer?

As long as there are no strings attached.
