Get to know our Online Designer

Today we’re asking Tzaddi, our Online Designer, some get to know you questions.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I often call myself a Creative Geek because I love both visual design and getting under the hood of a website. I studied art at Emily Carr with a major in sculpture and ceramics. In 3rd year, the Web hit popular awareness levels and I was hooked by its artistic possibilities. After college I studied Web design & programming at UBC part time. I love Web design as a career because there is always more to learn and new puzzles to solve.

I live, work and play near Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast. For play, I like to take my dogs out for a hike or a run on the beach, watch movies with my sweetie, and lately hang out on Twitter, making friends and learning. Like I said, I’m a bit of a geek.

What do you see as your communications strengths?
Figuring out how clients can best get their message across online. I’ve been working at/studying Web design for 10 years, and a lot of that time I’ve been involved in blogging and various social media tools. So, I have a great sense of what it takes—from various perspectives—to use the online sphere effectively.

What made you interested in joining AHA?
Alignment: the AHA crew is collaborative, creative, and strategic about using whatever tools make sense for a client’s objectives. That’s exactly how I like to work.

What five words describe you professionally? Personally?
Creative, calm, intelligent, strong, dependable.

What kind of beverage do you drink first thing in the a.m.?
Strong coffee with cream and sugar. Lately I’ve been following that up with freshly juiced concoctions of varying drinkability.

Who do you think you were in a past life?
A well-loved cat or dog. I love a good nap and a cuddle!

What makes you laugh out loud?
My husband and friends; animals and kids. Flight of the Conchords.

When you were little what did you want to be when you grew up?
An astronaut. I had no concept of what that involved (the studies, the small confined spacecraft), but I read a lot of sci-fi and just really wanted to go to outer space.

What five people living or dead would you invite to a dinner party?
Marisol (Escobar), Frida Kahlo, my two grandfathers as young men, Michael Ignatieff.

What’s in your refrigerator right now?
Lots of stuff! For juicing: lemons, apples, beets, carrots, fennel, celery, cucumber, ginger, cabbage…

What five CDs would you take with you to a desert island?
CDs I don’t yet have by artists I enjoy: Cake, St. Germain, Fiona Apple, She & Him, Broken Social Scene…only 5? Aack!

What question do you wish someone would ask you?
Would you travel to our exotic locale as our guest?

What’s your answer?
Yeah! How soon do you want me there?
